| Regards to all fellow Rexhallians. You have noted the increased number of units with slideouts on the road. The number of units that have at least one slideout has increased dramatically in recent years. The quality and performance of them has also increased. Our current slideouts are some of the most convenient in the whole market: they extend more than most, and the compartments come out with the room extension. A hydraulic pump powers the slideouts in a Rexhall motorhome. Save rare exemptions, every slide out is supported by one or two rams, each of which has a hydraulic cylinder inside. These rams are strong enough to support the room, without a noticeable deflection of either of the rams themselves, or of the coach’s structure. The design of the hydraulic system also provides pressure to the piston regardless of the direction of the motion; in other words, there is pressure when the slideout is going out or coming in. The hydraulic pump is easily accessible through the hood. This same pump powers the leveling jacks. Another important feature of our system is that there is no metal-to-metal contact anywhere in the sliding system. This means that this significantly reduces the chance of a mechanical failure. Instead, there is metal-to-teflon contact. This Teflon is of such quality that it reduces wear during the life of the motorhome. We use this same material to reduce the friction of the slideout floor and the carpet. The construction of the slideout box follows the same principles as the construction of the rest of the motorhome. We use welded steel and structure; vacuum bond it to fiberglass, foam, and paneling. We frame the window openings with steel as well. We also have taken the time to reinforce the structure of the whole coach with additional steel to support the slideout box, as not to sacrifice structural integrity. The slideout is also assembled in such a way that it is easy to operate and to service, making the Rexhall process a most reliable method of slide out construction. I wish you, our extended Rexhall family, extended fun times, using the extended slideouts. By -Sócrates Ramos, Engineering email: engineering@rexhall | ||||||
