| We decided to add an extra shelf (half shelf or triangular shelf actually) off the back wall for cups and glasses. I found a nice railing at the hardware store which accented the shelf rather nicely and keeps items from falling off. Cletes, made from narrow strips of wood, were screwed to the two walls and the shelf securred to the top (see photo). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Early on we discovered, as have others, that having articles in the overhead bins inside of something was important. We chose some baskets made by Frem Corp. They are 15 by 11 by 6 inches. They fit perfectly. They have slots in them which allows for instant viewing of the contents. They are light and sturdy. They are cheap. There is even space between them for a small pencil tray. To avoid confusion over whose stuff is in what basket, we use different colored baskets.. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Pantry Sliding Baskets Tip submittd by Doug Key 10//2002 (email keyd@earthlink.net) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The kitchen pantry in our motorhome is quite large – over 24” deep and over 9” wide. The only drawback was getting to everything buried in the back. To solve this problem we bought sliding wire baskets from The Container Store (See pictures). We used three baskets that were 9” wide by 21” deep and 7 ½ ” high and two that where the same width and depth but only 3 ½” high. The baskets can be used under or over the shelf. We used one of the shallower baskets as a spice tray and have it suspended under a shelf. The baskets are easily installed on metal tracks that come with the baskets. Cost is about $10 - $15 per basket and track. The only negative is that you do lose some storage space but this is offset with enhanced functionality. In addition, the baskets are easily removed for cleaning or loading in the house before going on a trip. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
